Due to Hurricane Katrina I have not been able to give attention to KozyKorner. We have had so much work to do re-building the interior of our home. We still have a lot to do but we have come a long way. It is nice to be back working on my site. I am very excited....after 11 years I have my own domain name, kozykorner.org
The 2005 Hurricane season will long be remembered both for the record-breaking number of early storms and the emergence of a powerful category 5 hurricane in the central Gulf of Mexico.
Hurricane Katrina strengthened into a powerful category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 160 mph. It continued on its path towards the Louisiana-Mississippi coastline and made landfall as a category 4 storm with sustained winds of 145 mph and a tidal surge of 28 feet.
The beauty and the character of the landscape on the Mississippi Gulf Coast has changed drastically. The majestic oak trees that once stood so proud and tall are now striped naked. The ones left are still strong as they reach their limbs to the heavens. The stately antebellum homes and historic structures are either completely destroyed or had major damage. In some cases complete historic districts were wiped clean. All that is left in most areas are foundations and memories. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is returning to normal operations in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Our beautiful coast suffered immense damage, but momentum is growing as we continue the rebuilding phase and recovery.

KozyKorner began its long journey in 1997. I decided to have website as an outlet after
My daughter was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes in 1995.
I had put a small amount of information about diabetes on KozyKorner,
And had such a response that I decided to research for more information for parents.
Now you will find a wide variety of useful information about diabetes
And diabetes health care, as well as some helpful links.
I am no expert; I am just a mom with a daughter who became insulin dependent
At age 8. My daughter just turned 21 and the fight with diabetes gets no easier.
I do believe that with each passing day we are that much closer to a cure.
In 2007 my husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. In the future I plan to include
information about adult onset diabetes.
My hope is that this web site may help other parents who have children with juvenile diabetes
And also be useful for adults with type 1 & 2 diabetes.
Just remember....YOU are not alone!

I have put together some photos of the catastrophic damage to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Unless you were actually here at "ground zero", the pictures cannot convey the depth of destruction along the coast.
